Why People Hate Tim Tebow

I’m getting tired of hearing about Tim Tebow. I’m not sure why his religious beliefs bother so many people or why it even matters to them at all but enough already. I sometimes wonder if he practiced any other religion besides Christianity would people even say anything. I am sure they would not. It is not allowed in this country. You can be tarred and feathered for even hinting at an insult to some religions in this country but Christians are supposed to just suck it up and deal with it.

It’s just a shame that people in this country somehow think that praying where people can see you or thanking God is imposing your religion on somebody when dozens of young punk rock fans have had their heads shaved and body piercings confiscated after police in Indonesia said they were a threat to Islamic values. THAT is religious fanaticism. THAT is imposing your beliefs on somebody. I think what really bothers me is that it pisses people off so badly that he chooses to thank/honor God when he wins or does well, rather than pumping up himself. Is there something wrong with one of these guys having some humility? The man is a phenomenal football player and from what I can see, this is a genuinely good guy. He spent his summers helping the poor and needy in the Philippines, spoke and volunteered in prisons, his family runs an orphanage… and people just hate him so much. There is something wrong with that.

People are always rooting for “the good guy” to fail, to be revealed as a hypocrite or whatever to make themselves feel better. It’s so telling that instead of wishing to elevate themselves to “good guy” status, they instead wish for the good guy to be lowered to their status. He makes other people uncomfortable because there’s no dirt on him, as they perceive there to be on themselves in comparison. Therefore they want to “dirty him up.” I think that’s sad and it says something very nasty about people in general.
